Antara "Principles of Design" yang biasa di guna pakai dalam Multimedia Design adalah seperti berikut :
- Balance
- Proximity
- Allignment
- Repetition
- Contrast
- Space
- Unity
- Emphasis
Unity
- The state of forming of complete and pleasing whole
- Help create a consistent brand
- Forms a connection between elements
- A harmony of all the parts
- Users will perceive them as one, not as a group
- COLOUR : Stick to a colour scheme
- REPPETITION : Repetition of colour, shape, texture or object
- ALLIGNMENT : Line up photographs and texts with the same gridlines
- PROXIMITY : Group object closely to form a pattern
- CONSISTENCY : Type of fonts, styles and sizes
- VISUAL DIRECTION : Influence users to move on to another element naturally
- CONTINUITY : Continuation of line, edge or direction from one area to another
-Sticks to a colour scheme (Blue)
-Repetition of colour scheme in Facebook.com and Facebook log in screen
-Photograph and texts are allign with the same gridlines
-Type of font, sizes and styles are consistent
-Continuation of line, edge or direction
-Visual Direction - Encourage users to move one to another element naturally
Emphasis
- Help readers identify the relative importance of each element in a composition.
- Recognize the visual hierarchy within a design
- Visual hierarchy consists of:
- a clear focal point, the most emphasized element, and
- accents, elements of lesser importance than the focal point:
- Use emphasis effectively in a design by:
- Making only one focal point
- Clearly emphasizing the focal point
- Emphasizing accents in ways that make the visual hierarchy clear.

Changing value : The darker value become a focal point because it has more visual weight |

Changing size : The larger shapes become a focal point |

Changing position : The triangle attract attention because it breaks the pattern of the shapes |

Changing colour : The red shape become a focal point which attract attention |

Leading element : The eye is lead to the bottom shape which becomes a focal point |

Combination : Colour, value and position all work togeteher to create a clear focal point |
